The United Campaign and
IER Fringe at TUC was well attended and the line up of speakers
was very impressive indeed. The session was chaired by Carolyn
Jones, Director of IER, who introduced Professor Keith Ewing,
John Hendy QC and General Secretaries, Michelle Stanistreet
(NUJ), Len McCluskey (UNITE), Bob Crow (RMT) and Amanda Brown
from NUT legal department ably stood in for her General Secretary,
Christine Blower. The TUC's Sarah Veale did not disappoint
either.
Perhaps the highlight
though was the moment when Len McCluskey told those assembled
that we were on the side of the angels precisely at the point
soft choral music floated down from the choir in the room
above. The fringe was being held at the Central Babtist Hall.
